HALE AKINLI (neighbour, ŞÜKRAN)

A veteran stage and screen actress, Hale Akınlı officially retired from the Istanbul Municipal Theatre in 2006, but has continued to make guest appearances for various projects. Highlights of her stage career include performances in productions of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus and Macbeth, Lorca’s The House of Bernarda Alba, Ariel Dorfman’s Widows, Moliere’s Scapin and Adalet Ağaoğlu’s Crack in the Roof (Çatıdaki Çatlak). On screen, Hale has also earned credits for her performances in Yol, the 1982 film co-directed by Şerif Gören and Yılmaz Güney, which won multiple awards at Cannes, Tunç Başaran’s Don’t Let Them Shoot the Kite (Uçurtmayı Vurmasınlar), and Barış Pirhasan’s Summer Love (O da Beni Seviyor).
